Dindo

A multi-talented and versatile singer, composer and guitarist, DINDO ALMEDA has been the front man for eight years in various local bands (such as Defy, Synfonia and Merchants of Groove).
He also did some recordings for Viva Records and composed jingles for products such as Milo and Colgate; establishments like Plaza fair; and the jingle for the weekly TV show “Mel and Joey”.
With a repertoire of his original heart-touching compositions in between renditions of cover songs - which vary from mellow to upbeat dance tunes done acoustically - Dindo’s performances are always something to watch and listen for. His powerful singing voice combined with his skillful guitar play just leave his audience asking for more songs.
Dindo performs regularly at the Tavern on the Square in Greenbelt 3, Makati City; Janero Bar and Niche Bar, both located along Sgt. Esguerra St., QC.
Dindo is currently working on his soon-to-be released EP album.

Orange and Lemons

Orange and Lemons’ guitar jangle and upfront updating of catchy, melodic beat groups like The Smiths and The Beatles has earned the Bulacan-based quartet their current stature as one of the more popular indie guitar-pop groups in the Philippines.

Clem Castro (vocals, lead guitars) and Mcoy Fundales (vocals, rhythm guitars) formed Orange and Lemons in July 1999. They were joined by brothers JM Del Mundo (bass) and Ace Del Mundo (drums) in February 2003. From the outset, the group cultivated a distinctly English image whilst blending Filipino sensibilities in their songs.

From their DIY and indie beginnings, they earned strong reviews for their 2004- released debut album “Love in the Land of Rubber Shoes and Dirty Ice Cream”. In 2005, Orange and Lemons signed with Universal Records and by the end of that same year, they released “Strike Whilst The Iron Is Hot”.

Their third album is currently in the works and is scheduled for release in December 2006.

The Spaceflower Show

Originally formed in the mid nineties by brothers and cousins Bong Manansala, Jan Manansala, Kix Manansala, Klentot Qiambao, and Pot Quiambao, doing mostly covers of British NEW WAVE outfits such as The Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cure, The Care, The Wild Swans, Bolshoi, as well as local heroes COCOJAM, THE JERKS AND ETHNIC FACES.

After finishing college, three of the original members left to pursue greener pastures and were replaced by sessionists. But the band, like a cigar left carelessly burning for too long, eventually disbanded in 2000.

A few years later, Bong and Kix reunited and decided to change the band’s name to “THE SPACEFLOWER SHOW” and experimented with a different sound genre, fusing classic jazz, soul, bossanova, mento and calypso (Jamaican style), rocksteady beat, two tone, blues, traditional reggae, bluebeat otherwise known as SKA.

Back to spread the gospel of SKA, The Spaceflower Show is fronted by Bong, whose dangerously good powerful voice matches his outrageous stage antics, and Kix, a well-regarded guitarist (for his ability to handle a range of guitar styles) and arranger. Joining “The Spaceflower Show” are new seeds Jeng Nufable (Rhythm Guitar), Adam Pimpinio (Bass Guitar), Buddha Mina (Drums, Percussions), Wally Darang (Trumpet), Carl Arguelles (Trombone), and Roel Ariola (Alto Saxophone).

The band released an album under their own label which sold well. They also contributed odd tracks for an Indies compilation album.

The Spaceflower Show is currently recording songs for their upcoming album under NO SEAT AFFAIR! RECORDS.

The Spaceflower Show has secured a place in the heart of SKA fans as evidenced by their current ranking as the most exciting act to hit the scene in Baguio. Pretty soon, THE SPACEFLOWER SHOW will earn what they have aimed for: the reputation as one of the best SKA group in the Philippines.
